Recorded live from the August 27, 1986, concert at the New Haven Veteran's Coliseum in New Haven, Connecticut, Live Without a Net captures Van Halen during their 5150 tour. 5150 (Expanded Edition) is a 40th-anniversary reissue of Van Halen's seventh studio album and their first with lead singer Sammy Hagar. The album features many love songs and ballads, a contrast to the straightforward hard rock of their previous albums. The album peaked at number one on the Billboard 200, surpassing the band's previous album, 1984, which peaked at number two behind Michael Jackson's Thriller.
